Rethink the Built Environment
Rethink the built environment to lower climate impact
Saturday, October 12, 10:30-12:00
Format: Presentations, panel debate and site tour
Real life Copenhagen projects save CO2 and money by turning the waste of today in to the buildings for tomorrow. Join this guided tour at the world’s first upcycled housing projects – where reused windows, leftover wood and 1400 tons of concrete waste from the Copenhagen metro has been turned into award-winning modern, city houses.
The tour includes ‘Upcycle Studios’ and ‘Resource Rows’, a total of more than 100 sustainable homes. The walk also passes by the final plot in Ørestad, where the ‘UN17 Village’ will be built, bringing all 17 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals to life.
The tour will give you inspiration on sustainable urban development and circularity – and be guided by the partners behind the three projects, including former Lord Mayor of Copenhagen and CEO of City & Port, Jens Kramer Mikkelsen, now Director of Urban Development at NREP.
